SPIF Petition

NZ Actors' Equity has raised serious concerns that New Zealand performers have not been considered in the development of the new Screen Production Incentive Fund.

Final SPIF guidelines released

The Government announced the final version of the new Screen Production Incentive Fund on July 3 but the improvements made to its criteria and the Significant NZ Content Test are not sufficient to ensure that only projects which are genuinely NZ will benefit from the scheme.  The New Zealand Performers’ Committee is considering how these concerns may be addressed.  Among proposals being considered is calling on the Government to tighten the rules relating to the importation of non-New Zealand performers for local productions.  Read more here from the Beehive web site and here at Film NZ.

Many thanks to all those performers who signed on to Equity’s petition.  The improvements that have been made are surely a direct result of this action.
