There's a new Kiwi musical, 'I Wish I Learned', featuring Equity members Nathaniel Ta'ase and Alexandra McKellar.

The show opens on 16 May and runs until next Friday, 24 May at The Herald Theatre, Auckland. By Kiwi-born writer/composer Vicki Millar, the show was shortlisted for the New York Musical Theatre Festival 2013.

It is about the good girl, the quiet boy, the cool kid and the princess meet as adults at their primary school reunion. Can we restart our lives by going back to school?

Acting classes in the Barrow method – Equity member Juliet Furness is offering weekly Auckland acting classes in the Barrow method, used successfully by recent Oscar winner Anne Hathaway and Shortland Street’s Amy Usherwood. Anne Hathaway publicly recognised her private acting coach, Seth Barrish of The Barrow Group in New York saying “the Barrow Group was really the acting institution that taught me how to act. I worked with the best teachers…Lee Brock and Seth Barrish, who taught me why less is more.” Juliet worked with the Barrow Group in New York for 17 years, taking classes with Seth Barrish, and performing in Barrow Group Annex productions and play readings. Juliet has also worked as acclaimed acting coach Jeremiah Comey’s assistant in Los Angeles. John Bolton Theatre School, Auckland - Equity member Laurel Devenie is administering this four month acting programme, which will take place in Auckland from March 31 - August 1, 2014. NZ performers will have the opportunity to study with one of the finest international theatre teachers, John Bolton. John trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Paris. The course will cover the analysis of movement and mime and investigate the practice of creating new work.
