An Evening with Canadian Heavy-Hitters

All financial members are invited to an informal Q&A session with visiting Canadians Ferne Downey and Paul Ledoux, with drinks to follow. Ferne is the president of the 21,000-strong Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) and has worked extensively as an actor in theatre, radio, television and film. She is also an acclaimed producer of theatre. Paul is an award-winning creator of musical theatre who has had more than 30 of his plays produced throughout the world. He works as a dramaturge, director and designer, and writes for film and television . This event is part  of Equity’s Professional Program and is free to financial members.

Date: Thursday, April 7, 6pm-8pm.

Venue: St Columba Centre, 40 Vermont St, Ponsonby.

In Conversation with Roy Billing

NZ Equity supports Trans-Pacific Partnership “release the text” campaign

The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) is a free trade agreement currently under negotiation between NZ and eight other countries, including Australia and the U.S. The countries want to complete negotiation by November 2011. The agreement has the potential to impact upon the Government’s ability to support New Zealand content into the future.

Support the campaign to halt the Trans Pacific Partnership, by signing up here and giving your voice of opposition to the TPPA.

NZ Actors Equity welcomes news that The Hobbit films will be made in New Zealand

President Jennifer Ward-Lealand expressed her gratitude on behalf of New Zealand performers for the Government’s leadership over the past two days toward negotiating a positive outcome with the studio executives and producers.
 
“We are pleased the Government was able to resolve the economic concerns of Warner Brothers and New Line. The film business is an internationally competitive one and it’s important New Zealand offers incentives that allow us to continue to build our world-renowned film industry.”
