Alistair was elected to the Equity board in 2013. Alistair has been involved in more than a hundred theatre productions, in New Zealand, Australia and England. In 2013, Alistair was awarded an international actors fellowship to study at the Globe Theatre in London.
He started at Theatre Corporate and then as an apprentice at The Mercury Theatre in Auckland, working as a technician, stage-manager, and set-builder as well as performing, and went on to work at just about every theatre in New Zealand.
Highlights include August, Osage County; Anything Goes; Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; Three Sisters; A Doll’s House; Angels in America; Great Expectations; The Cherry Orchard; Arcadia; The Threepenny Opera; Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf; Noises Off and Death of a Salesman.
He’s also performed in about 15 Shakespeare plays, including as Hamlet, Oberon and Theseus in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cornwall in King Lear, Montano in Othello, Malcolm in Macbeth and most recently as Antony in the Victoria University Summer Shakespeare Antony and Cleopatra.
His film credits include Shopping, Fracture, Rain, Lord of the Rings, Vertical Limit and Merry Christmas, Mister Lawrence; and a television career spanning from The Sullivans through Gloss, Marlin Bay, Hercules, Shortland Street to Bliss and Siege most recently.
He has won 7 awards for acting and one for direction.
